Windows XP hangs on Shutdown/Log Off
Posted: 21 Aug 02

There are several known problems that cause this, such as Roxio's Easy CD Creator and Direct CD (best to uninstall them and use Nero Burning Rom Instead) also Intel Ambient HaM Modems can cause XP not to shut down properly (Get the latest drivers from Intel.com).

Try downloading the 'Restarting XP' update from Microsoft

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q307274

I have used this update to fix any restart problems i had, and XP shuts down properly now.
