If you install Crystal 8.5 on a computer that is using Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 6 (using the "Typical Install" option), you will find that you cannot get the Crystal help system to work. That is because of a minor incompatibility between the way the help system is written and that edition of IE. This has been confirmed by Crystal Decisions technical support.
Here is the work-around:
1. Do NOT select the "typical" installation. Select the "custom" installation option.
2. Click on the tree item labeled "Crystal Reports"
3. Click on the tree item within "Crystal Reports" labeled "Help"
